This past Sunday, we were reminded that true worship flows from seeing Jesus for who He truly is.
In John 12, several people gathered around Him, and each responded differently. Lazarus, once dead and now alive because of Jesus, simply reclined at the table with Him. His quiet presence reminds us that worship sometimes looks like resting in the grace of Christ. Martha served those around her, showing that even ordinary acts of service become worship when they are done for the Lord. And Mary poured out perfume worth a year’s wages at Jesus’ feet—an act of humble and costly love that filled the entire house with fragrance.
Yet Judas saw the same moment and called it a waste.
But Jesus called it beautiful.
Mary understood something essential: when our hearts are captured by Christ, nothing given to Him is ever wasted. Love for Jesus makes sacrifice a joy.
As you move through this week, take time to rest in Christ, serve others in His name, and offer Him your devotion. When our lives are poured out for Him, even the smallest acts become a pleasing fragrance before the Lord.
