This past Sunday, we were reminded that Jesus is the sovereign Son of God who used even His enemies’ calculated rejection to accomplish our salvation. In a room where fear dressed itself as wisdom and leaders plotted to eliminate Him, heaven did not react but redeemed.
What Caiaphas meant as political strategy — “one man should die for the people” — God ordained as a substitutionary sacrifice. The cross was not a tragic interruption but the determined plan of God, not making salvation merely possible but securing it for His people. Above that council chamber stood a throne, and above their conspiracy stood eternal love. The One they plotted to kill was not a victim but a willing substitute, and through their sentence, He secured our freedom.
