A word from our pastor
You are welcome here.
For 150 years, Tabernacle has opened its doors on Wildwood Road to the people of Lenoir and Caldwell County. We're a congregation of about sixty people, and that small size is a gift. People know your name here, and they notice when you're away.
We are ordinary people who believe an extraordinary thing: God saves sinners through Jesus Christ, and His Word is enough to build a life, a family, and a church on.
On Sunday mornings we read the Bible, pray, sing the hymns of the faith, and hear preaching that moves verse by verse through a book of Scripture. The text sets the sermon, not the other way around. Right now we're walking through the Gospel of John.
No pressure, no performance. Come as you are, bring your questions, and stay after to talk. We would love to meet you this Sunday.

Our mission
Word. Pray. Love. Go.
Word
All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness.
2 Timothy 3:16
Pray
Pray constantly.
1 Thessalonians 5:17
Love
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind... Love your neighbor as yourself.
Matthew 22:37-39
Go
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations... And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
Matthew 28:19-20
What we believe
Rooted in God's Word
We hold the Bible to be the inspired, only infallible, authoritative Word of God. We believe in one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, His atoning death, His bodily resurrection, and His personal return in power and glory. Salvation comes by the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit through faith in Christ.
As an Advent Christian church, we also hold to the Declaration of Principles, and we look with hope for the day Christ returns to raise the dead and make all things new.

Josh & Meagan Baker
Pastor
Josh and Meagan both lived their whole lives in New England before God led them south to the mountains of North Carolina. Josh became pastor of Tabernacle in November 2023, after 15 years of ministry in a variety of pastoral roles.
Meagan serves with our kids and in our women's ministry, and she loves discipleship, walking alongside others as they grow in Christ.
Josh and Meagan have three kids: Madysen, Josiah, and Jonah. Ask Josh what matters most and he'll tell you plainly: "I love Jesus, His Word, and His church."

Our service, His glory
150 years of ministry in Lenoir
Tabernacle Advent Christian Church was founded in 1876. In 2026 we celebrated 150 years with a homecoming weekend, remembering God's faithfulness to every generation who has worshiped here.
We're part of the Advent Christian family of churches. We hold to the authority of Scripture, salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, and the hope of His return.
