Two days, one church family
A brief look back at how we marked a century and a half together.
Family Fun Day
Saturday, September 26 · 10 AM – 4 PM
Saturday was for fellowship and fun. Families spread out across the grounds for bounce houses for the kids, yard games, food, and live bluegrass music, with plenty of time to visit with old friends and new ones alike.
It was the kind of day that reminds you what a church family is for, generations together, laughing, eating, and enjoying one another.
Homecoming Service
Sunday, September 27 · 10 AM
On Sunday we gathered in the sanctuary to worship and to look back, and ahead, together. Alan Sherrill shared a history of the church, and Liz Callaway led the homecoming memorial. The message came in three parts, tracing where God has brought us and where He is leading us.
After the service, everyone shared a potluck under the picnic shelter and walked through the history museum. The weekend closed Sunday night with a cemetery service lit by more than 300 luminaries.
The Past
Justin Nash · Ephesians 2:1–10

From Our Denomination
As shared by the Advent Christian General Conference
Our denomination, the Advent Christian General Conference (ACGC), joined us for the homecoming weekend and shared their own write-up of the celebration, “Tabernacle Celebrates 150 Years of Ministry.” We are thankful they came to celebrate with us and told the story for the wider Advent Christian family.
“So, then, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with the saints, and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone.”
Ephesians 2:19–20 · CSB
